Grimsel Test Site Newsletter 7 published

The Grimsel Test Site (GTS) has published its seventh newsletter (July 2022), which is available here. This issue provides several highlights of activities at GTS over the last 6 months including:
- An update on the GAs permeable Seal Test (GAST) experiment, in particular the final phase of the experiment, the Gas Flow Test which was initiated in May 2022.
- The HotBENT experiment reaching its ‘hot phase’ with its heaters reaching their target temperatures of up to 200 °C.
- Smaller updates from the other projects: CFM i-BET/LIT, CIM, LTD, MaCoTe and SET
- The work of the GTS site team using the expertise to support the wider research community outside their home lab, including the Kiruna Natural Analogue (KiNa) project.
The newsletter also provides an update on Grimsel outreach and training activities for the first half of 2022 and some of what can be expected for next year. More information is available at www.grimsel.com.

Research in this area aims to consider how consistent safety cases across the different waste management programmes can be developed, how safety assessment concepts and models can be developed and refined, and how sensitivity and uncertainty treatment can be improved.
Key Topic 2: Wasteforms and their Behaviour
This research aims to improve understanding of the behaviour of various wastes in geological disposal facilities in order to better quantify the processes controlling radionuclide, chemical and gas release from waste forms, to improve the quality of models used in safety assessments and to adequately define the types and magnitudes of uncertainties associated with various processes.
