We are pleased to announce the 43rd Annual Symposium on the Scientific Basis for Nuclear Waste Management, to be held October 21-24 in Vienna, Austria, at the Vienna International Center.

Dedicated conference website: www.mrs.org/SBNWM-2019/

The Symposium, endorsed by the Materials Research Society (MRS), is hosted this year by the International Atomic Energy Agency. This Symposium Series began at the 1978 MRS Fall Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts. Currently, it occurs at the annual MRS Fall Meeting during even years; during odd years, the Symposium is hosted at locations throughout the world where there is involvement in radioactive waste management.

This Symposium provides an interdisciplinary forum for the discussion of scientific bases of technologies used in radioactive waste management (RWM). The Symposium will focus on all technological aspects of radioactive waste management including synthesis, characterization, processing, storage and disposal of low-, intermediate- and high-level nuclear wastes from commercial power generation, use of radionuclides in medicine, industry and agriculture, and nuclear fuel reprocessing.
