16/09/2021
The IAEA is hosting a virtual (hybrid) ESPACE event on Tuesday 21 September 2021 at 1500 to 1600 CET entitled “A generic Roadmap towards implementing a Deep Geologic Repository (DGR)”. This is being organised as a side event at the IAEA 65th General Conference, in Vienna, 20-24 September.
Implementing a deep geological repository (DGR) for radioactive waste is a central enabler of sustainable nuclear power generation and associated fuel cycle activities. This event will present the IAEA generic roadmap towards implementing a DGR based on practices and experiences in a range of national DGR programmes. It describes the main phases of a national DGR programme, presents the main groups of activities and introduces a corresponding, generic suite of deliverables needed to progress the programme to the next phase.
The event flyer is available here. Prior registration is essential – see https://www.iaea.org/about/governance/general-conference/gc65/events/secretariat-side-events for all GC65 side events and here for registration for this event.
